LAS VEGAS -- The U.S. Department of Labor announced Wednesday that Nevada will get $6 million in grant money aimed at training and placing 6,000 Nevadans.
The grants are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 designed to promote economic growth.
"These grants will help workers gain access to good jobs, while supporting the sort of statewide energy efficiency strategies that play a crucial role in building the green economy of the 21st century," said U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.
The grant was given to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and will be used to set up training and education for low-income, low-skilled workers who want employment in green industries.
